CWSF is prepared as a result of crushing and consequent milling of raw coal, mixing it with water and (if required) additives.

For crushing and milling of raw coal standard crushers and mills are used. For mixing of fine dispersed coal with water modified mills and mixing devices are used.

Major CWSF characteristics are below:

Table 1. CWSF characteristics

Indicator Value
Part of coal 58-70%
Coal particles in CWSF 250mkm – <97%
Density, ρ About 1200 kg per cubic meter
Ash 5-50% (зависит от марки угля)
Calorific value 2900…4300 kcal/kg depending on initial coal
Viscosity 0.7…1.2Pa*s-1
Ignition temperature 450-500°С – CWSF from brown and gas coals550…650°С – CWSF from forge and athracites
Incineration temperature 950-1100 °С
Stability from 30 days

If CWSF produced from law-ash coals it could be used in gas/oil boilers without needs to install ash removing system. Low-ash CWSF could be also produced by processing of initial CWS.
